5 Small Organizing Projects You Can Finish Today

Sometimes you don't have time to get the entire house in order. Let's be real, there is life to be lived and work to be done and kids to drive from here to there. But many of us want to be MORE organized.

What about if we approached this task in a whole new way? Why not take the time we do have and optimize it? This is where small projects can make a BIG difference.

Here are five small organizing projects you can get done today:

TRIAGE YOUR MAIL

- Check mailbox

- Put any recyclables into recycle bin

- File any paperwork you need to keep long term

- Place paperwork you need within the next two months into the "magic folder" (a magic folder is a folder you keep in an easy-to-access area which you check often)

CLEAN THE JUNK DRAWER

- Empty and decide what to keep/what goes

- Remove anything that doesn't belong

- Gather like items together (paper clips, push pins, etc)

- Sort out things like batteries by size/style

- Consider using an organizer to corral everything into tidy spaces

FRESHEN UP THE FRIDGE

- Remove all items and wipe down shelves and bins

- Go through and toss expired items

- Wipe down sticky bottles

- Consolidate duplicated and toss out excess packaging

- Make note of what needs replenishing

DECLUTTER YOUR CLOTHES CLOSET

- Remove everything from the ground and put away

- Hang or put away accessories

- Take out items that are dirty or need to be dry cleaned

- Give a quick once-through to see if there is anything to part with

- Arrange clothing by rainbow color order

ORGANIZE UNDERNEATH THE SINK

- Remove everything from the space

- Wipe all surfaces down with multipurpose cleaner

- Toss anything you don't use anymore

- Consolidate items and recycle/toss excess packaging

- Use small bins to corral like items together

Taking these small steps can lead to BIG results. It can be just what you need to get the balling rolling on your decluttering journey. Let us know which one you start with!
